SATRARAMBH Satrarambh, literally meaning Satra (year) + Aarambh (starting), is the festival that marks the beginning of the New Year according to the Hindu calender. Satrarambh is celebrated in different regions on different dates, such as it is being celebrated on 14th of April in Tamil Nadu and 15th of April in Bengal this year. Our school celebrates Satrarambh on 1st of April along with the commencement of the new academic year and thus blends our spirit of nationalism with our urge to do well in school. It is the time when students start their new sessions with vigour and the promise of doing well, academically as well in the field of extra-curricular activities. It instigates a feeling of confidence in the children and propels them forward in their life. As festivals are a time to rejoice, it is ensured that the new session is started with a special assembly on the very first day of the school itself to raise the spirits of the students high and bring them back to studies after two months of summer holidays. Every year, an auspicious lamp is lit by the Principal of the school, the Vice Principal and the Head Mistresses of Primary, Middle and Secondary departments. The school choir sings the “Saraswati Vandana” to call upon the goddess of wisdom to impart some of her knowledge to us so that we may become able citizens of this great country. In the past years, the Principal has told the students to study hard but also emphasised on the importance of maintaining a balance between their health and their studies. The children thus join the new academic session among cries of joy and greeting each other “HAPPY SATRARAMBH”! SATRARAMBH 2012 Bal Bharati Public School, Brij Vihar began its new session 2012-13 with Satrarambh – a special joint assembly. The assembly began with the lighting of the lamp by the Principal Mr. Arvind Bhatia and the heads of the various departments signifying the new beginning. The programme included Guru Vandana, a dance performance by the students and a thought provoking, value based teacher’s talk. The assembly concluded with the encouraging words of the Principal who firmly believes in perfection, physical fitness and punctuality
